What I compared
The announced modes are solo play and online co-op for up to four players. No local or split-screen mode is listed. Nintendo and PlayStation each specify one player on a single system; Steam lists online co-op without a shared-screen category. This describes the listings checked October 29, 2026, not a promise about future updates.

Crossplay is partial
Single-source information: the Xbox listing shows cross-platform multiplayer/co-op and PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. No second independent source reviewed defines that compatibility matrix. In particular, a PC label does not prove Steam-to-Xbox crossplay. Nintendo and PlayStation do not say they join that group.
Xbox cloud saves and Steam Cloud describe platform services, not guaranteed save transfer between stores. Cross-store progression, host migration and session save ownership remain unspecified in the reviewed material.
What co-op changes in the town
The August 12, 2026 post Building a Home describes land expanding to reveal additional guest cottages as players join. Each guest has a separate, slightly smaller cottage and garden; the host's house is not described as growing larger. This is one official publisher source. Harbour Home is the furniture shop, not the name of the player's two-storey cottage.
Online membership notes
Each store is the single source for its own service requirement: Nintendo lists Nintendo Switch Online, PlayStation requires PS Plus for online play, and Xbox says console multiplayer needs Game Pass Essential, Premium or Ultimate. Those multiplayer service labels are not proof that every tier includes the game. Steam does not list a console-style online subscription. Check the product's current terms before buying a subscription for co-op.

Does Witchbrook have local co-op?
No. Nintendo says one player on a single system. PlayStation says 1 player. Steam’s categories include Online Co-op and not Shared/Split Screen. Xbox lists online co-op only.
